The Zermatterhof receives positive hotel and food critic reviews

The Zermatterhof is one of the world's most exclusive hotels. And this has now been confirmed by hotel and food critics. The Karl Wild hotel ratings in the SonntagsZeitung named the Grand Hotel as one of Switzerland's 15 best winter hotels. The excellent reputation of the Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni was also confirmed when it was awarded 16 GaultMillau points. The Lusi Brasserie & Lounge now also appears in the GaultMillau guide, having been awarded 13 points.

At the 5-star Hotel Zermatterhof, two employees with very special awards look after the guests. Peter Zimmermann can call himself "Sommelier of the Year 2020" and Heinz Rufi-bach "Chef of the Year 2020".

Grand Hotel Zermatterhof jumps seven places

The SonntagsZeitung has published its list of Switzerland's best hotels for 2019 – the 18th instalment of the newspaper's largest survey of Swiss hotels, which ranks hotels in one of five different categories: holidays, budget, spa breaks, city breaks and families. The Grand Hotel Zermatterhof was rated 19th in the list of top Swiss holiday hotels, climbing an impressive seven places from the position it held last year.

Rufibach & Friends: successful guest chef events at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof

At the end of January, Heinz Rufibach, Chef de Cuisine at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, began holding a series of events with an exclusive offer for lovers of fine food and drink. On the first evening, he was joined in the kitchen of Prato Borni by the Three Musketeers of five-star gastronomy: Hans Nussbaumer, Othmar Schlegel and Peter Wyss.

Heinz Rufibach, Chef de Cuisine at the Zermatterhof, wants to make guests happy

Heinz Rufibach's return as Chef de Cuisine attracted many new guests to the Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni in the Zermatterhof during the 2017 summer season. It also prompted a visit from the GaultMillau restaurant testers, who heaped praise on his dishes and awarded the restaurant 15 points. Rufibach's comeback at the Grand Hotel in Zermatt was thus nothing short of a triumph.

Heinz Rufibach returns to the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof

Bern native Heinz Rufibach, 55, is the new Chef de Cuisine at our fine-dining restaurant, Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni. Locals and regular guests have fond memories of Heinz Rufibach's cuisine from his time as Chef de Cuisine at the Zermatterhof from 1996 to 2002.

How is the 2015 Pinot Noir from Salgesch?

The extremely hot summer of 2015 yielded a fantastic wine. In Switzerland, new red wines usually come onto the market around Christmas time. In Zermatt, on Friday, 5 August 2016, from 4.45 p.m., there will be a preview tasting of this outstanding vintage. Diego Mathier, the prominent spokesman of the Salgesch vintners, will be bringing a barrique of the 2015 Pinot Noir to the Matterhorn Plaza by horse-drawn carriage.
